I've been trying to use the data tethering feature on my Blackberry 8820. I called AT&T and they enabled the feature on my account. Then I paired the phone with my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.4 via bluetooth. I found the modem scripts linked from this site and installed them.

I'm using wap.cingular as the phone number, WAP@CINGULARGRPS.COM as the username and CINGULAR1 as the password. AT&T also had me try using ISP instead of WAP in the combinations, and even *99# as the phone number, all without success.

I attempted to configure the bluetooth network connection using the script for the 8800 (which, logically, seemed closest to the 8820). However, when I attempt to connect, I can't establish a PPP session. I turned on verbose logging, and this is what shows up in the log:

I've wasted a fair amount of time on the phone with AT&T, and they don't know what needs to be done in order to link with the mac. AT&T's support even sent connected me to Apple's support, which also seemed to be clueless on the subject.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I feel your pain. I also have an 8820 on AT&T. I've tried every modem script I could find...no luck.

I've searched a few different sites and forums, and it doesn't seem like anyone has been successful getting the combination of the 8820 and AT&T to work. One guy specifically said that he had his 8800 working fine, and when he switched to an 8820, he couldn't get it to work anymore.

I'm thinking their may need to be a script created specifically for the 8820. I noticed that iMobiMac doesn't have the 8820 in its pull down list either, although I haven't tried the trial because I'm afraid it would work. Then I'd have to decide whether to cough up the $70.
