After succeeding last night in getting my 8800 tethered to my MacBook following your instructions, I tried to connect today and had the exact same issues as Shane:
- Rogers customer
- configured the same way
- ended up with an identical call log
a bit confusing as it worked at first, any ideas? |

I'm trying to connect my Blackberry 8800 to T-Mobile.
I think my problem is that I'm not saving the script correctly under modem scripts in my Library since the icon to the left appears like a text file vs. all the other choices that have a blank page. It automatically opens the .txt file when I go to Save As which may be corrputing the file...?
Are you sure I need to enter guest/guest for T-Mobile? I don't enter this under the bluetooth modem setup right, just the connection?
I'd be most appreciative for a hand on this one. I can't bear to give T-Mobile another $10 for airport daypasses.
Thanks,
Kevin |

I have tested this with the 8800 series and it should work with other versions.
Here were my steps
- pair the devices
- make sure that in your Bluetooth assistant that it is config'd for "access internet with your phone's data connection"
- In your "Internet Connect" Click on Bluetooth
- Create a new connection called Bluetooth
- Select the Modem named "WWAN Support"
- Leave username and password fields blank
- Enter the phone number. In my case from my carrier I use #777 for Bell Mobility in Canada |
Just for clarity . . . with Bell that should be a Blackberry 8830 right? This technique did not work with my 8800 on Rogers. |

Sorry for the multiple posts...been working all night on this one....I think I'm getting closer.
It finally says autheticating and after a couple minutes it still disconnects saying that the other party did not respond, but it seems like it's getting close to agreeing. |

Can you give some more information?
What steps have you taken?
Have you tried the steps that worked for me?
What are your specs?(Computer, OS, bb version?) |

According to Bell Mobility and RIM this should work....Tere are Blackberry's instructions for Windows but tethering via bluetooth as long as D.U,N profile is available on your device, there "should" be no issues....
These are the ones that Bell Mobility say they support 7250 with EVDO upgrade, 7130, 8703, 8830.
I am sure there are more, but these are just the ones they have tested....
I wish I bookmarked the link that showed all of the compatible devices...... |

Can anyone figure out how to adapt the script for the MacBook Pro OS: 10.4.10? Apparently this script works with a prior version, but I don't know how to complete an uninstall of the Mac OS.
Thanks,
Kevin |

Here is what you need to do.....
Get an external hdd(firewire)
Use this software to clone your existing hdd to the external(MAKE SURE THAT THE EXTERNAL HDD HAS NOTHING ON IT YOU WANT CAUSE IT WILL BE OVERWRITTEN DURING THE CLONE!!!) -- http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
after the clone is completed use your install media to re-install your laptop and OS X 10.4.9
Create your initial user as admin. This is because later when you use the migration assistant to move your data back from your external hdd you won't get duplicate names
download OS X 10.4.9 combo updater... http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxserver1049comboupdateuniversal.html
After all that, reconnect your external drive
Launch the Migration assistant
Copy back all of your data
You are done and Tethering should work as I have outlined as long as you have a supported device

Only is necessary if he wants to roll back to OS X 10.4.9. Plus he asked
I am not sure why it broke in 10.4.10, the method I used anyway. |

Hi all. I have a TMo Curve and am a new Mac owner (MacBook os 10.5). I have been looking and trying for over a month to find the right script to get this to work and thought I finally had it here. I successfully configured and connected the very first try using this script! However, after connecting, I realized that although I was technically connected, I couldn't access anything on the web, email, etc.
I disconnected and tried to reconnect and that was the end. I can not connect since and am so frustrated. If anyone can offer some sound advice, I sure would be grateful.
Also, a couple of questions. Since I like many others are using my WiFi with my Curve, I believe I have to turn that off on the Curve in order to use my teathered connection, is that right? Also, do I need to disconnect all other Bluetooth devices that are paired with my Curve when trying to connect? Is there anything else I need to do on the Curve end of things?
I look forward to resolving this and spreading the joy! Thanks!
