| That looks more like your phone can't contact the authentication server. Can you post what you have in the phone number, username and and password fields in Internet Connect? Also, have you set up the apn on your phone (Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP on the Pearl; I assume it's the same on the 8800)? |

Downloaded script as .htm and also tried renaming it as .txt. Always have trashed previous versions before trying new.
Connection Log:
Wed May 30 10:10:14 2007 : Version 2.1
Wed May 30 10:10:19 2007 : Connect script failed
Using BB 8800 and OS 10.4.9
Error says "modem error occurred. verify settings and try again" I've check, rechecked a million times account name, password, and such.
Any other ideas?
thanks,
Noah |

Hi Noah,
It sounds like the script is being corrupted when you download it. Try Ctrl-clicking on the link to the script, then selecting 'Save as' or 'Save Linked File' (depending on your browser).
Your mac will know which script to use because you select the script during the pairing process (after you tell the Bluetooth wizard you want to connect using '1xRTT or other high-speed service'). |

That all looks correct. Cingular users seem to have more issues with connection than anyone else - check that you've got the proper provisioning on your account for tethering. |

I'm a Rogers Wireless customer in Canada and just trying to follow these instructions. Here is what I've done to date and where I'm at...(to top things off I'm new to MAC)
- i've paired my 8800
- I've downloaded the script and appears in my list of modem scripts
- I've followed the remainder of the instructions
- I've set up my TCP settings on my phone as well as Internet connect application to be the APN, username and password as provided which are: APN: internet.com Username: wapuser1 and password: wap
- I've checked these settings again with Rogers as well as confirmed my account is setup to do this and they indicate I am.
I got connected once for a few seconds...I saw the send/receive status bar and immediately disconnected and now I can't get on. I'm now getting an error message indicating "could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server". Rogers indicates this is not them. What is this? What am I doing wrong?
Any help is appreciated. |

| Interesting! Shane, you're the first to report this problem on Rogers. Cingular users eem to be having this problem on a regular basis. Can you post your connection log with verbose logging turned on? |

I can definitely do that...since my MAC knowledge is limited (only a few days on a MAC) can you tell me how to do that? I have a Macbook Pro.
Thanks in advance.

Which carrier are you with? Can you post a snippet of your Connection log with verbose logging turned on? |

I can tether with my blackberry and Powerbook G4 no issues via bluetooth and no special downloaded scripts......
I have tested this with the 8800 series and it should work with other versions.
Here were my steps
- pair the devices
- make sure that in your Bluetooth assistant that it is config'd for "access internet with your phone's data connection"
- In your "Internet Connect" Click on Bluetooth
- Create a new connection called Bluetooth
- Select the Modem named "WWAN Support"
- Leave username and password fields blank
- Enter the phone number. In my case from my carrier I use #777 for Bell Mobility in Canada |
